Windows Installation

Prior to installing Oxygen, it is necessary to have the appropriate prerequisite software installed on your system. Verify that the computer has the supported operating system and the required software before starting the installation.


Following guide deals with Oxygen IDE installation. For Oxygen CLI see CLI Guide.

Supported Operating Systems

  • Windows 7, 8, 10
  • Windows Server 2008, 2012, and later versions

Required Software


  1. Download latest installer.
  2. Navigate to where you downloaded the file and double-click the installer file icon to begin the Setup program.
    On Windows 8 and 10, you might get a warning when running the setup. Click "More info" and then "Run anyway" to start the Setup:

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions in the setup program. During the installation you will be presented with an option to select components to install:

    Selecting "Chrome Extension" will install Chrome extension allowing you to record scripts from within the browser.
    Selecting "Internet Explorer add-on" will install IE add-on allowing you to record scripts on Internet Explorer 10-11.

  4. Once the installation has completed, you will be prompted to click Finish. When you have completed the installation wizard, you will find Oxygen installed in the installation directory that you chose and a shortcut for the IDE will be added to the Start menu and the Desktop.
  5. If you chose to install browser extensions they will need to be enabled before becoming operational.

    Restart the browser. In the right-top corner you should see the menu button glowing orange. Click it and select New extension added (Oxygen), then click on Enable extension.

    Alternatively, click on the menu button located in the right-top corner, go to Settings -> Extensions and enable the extension from there.

    If for some reason extension did not get installed, it can be installed manually by going to

    Internet Explorer
    Click Enable at the pop-up located near the bottom of the browser:

    Alternatively, the add-on can also be enabled at the Settings -> Manage add-ons screen.
    Restart the browser after enabling the add-on.

    For recording to work, the website needs to be added to "Trusted Sites" zone with cross-domain data access enabled, which is a preferred option, or alternatively cross-domain access can be enabled for the whole Internet Zone.

    Go to Internet Options, Security tab, select Trusted Sites, click "Custom level..." button, and enable "Access data sources across domains"
